“It Looks Like Mitch McConnell Is Folding to the Democrats, Again” – Alabama Senate Candidate Katie Britt Voices Her Opposition to McConnell’s Debt Ceiling Vote

by October 8, 2021
written by October 8, 2021

Katie Britt is running as a Republican for US Senator from Alabama.
Katie’s campaign slogan is Alabama First.

Katie ripped Mitch McConnell in her statement on Thursday.

Katie Britt on Thursday announced her staunch opposition to a deal brokered in Congress this week to raise the debt ceiling through December.

Former President Donald Trump on Wednesday released a statement criticizing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) over the agreement. Democrats have the ability to raise the debt ceiling through reconciliation without GOP support, and Republicans for months have told Democrats they would have to utilize that option.

“Looks like Mitch McConnell is folding to the Democrats, again. He’s got all of the cards with the debt ceiling, it’s time to play the hand. Don’t let them destroy our Country!” said Trump.

Britt reacted in the following statement:

“I agree with President Trump. The ball was totally in Democrats’ court to raise the debt ceiling themselves, and Republicans should have made them own the issue instead of bailing them out. Democrats are currently trying to change the fabric of our nation and pass their disastrous $3.5 trillion spending boondoggle without a single GOP vote. If Democrats want to continue recklessly adding to our national debt at an unprecedented rate, Republicans should not help them raise the debt ceiling. As Alabama’s next U.S Senator, I will never back down when fighting to protect our Christian conservative values and to save the country we know and love.”

Britt is a Republican candidate to serve as the next U.S. Senator for Alabama. Katie is a native of Coffee County, and her husband, Wesley, is from Cullman County. They now live in Montgomery with their two children, Bennett and Ridgeway.
