Another House Democrat Retirement Spells Trouble For Pelosi – 26th Incumbent Dem Won’t Seek Reelection This Year

written by January 11, 2022

Another one.

Another House Democrat will not be seeking reelection this year.

Rep. Ed Perlmutter of Colorado’s 7th district said after much thought and consideration he has decided not to run for reelection after serving 8 terms.

Perlmutter, 68, is the 26th incumbent Dem who won’t be seeking reelection in November.

The latest retirement spells more trouble for Pelosi and the Democrats.

“There comes a time when you pass the torch to the next generation of leaders. I’m deeply gratified that our bench in the 7th District is deep and fortunately we have a strong group of leaders who are ready and able to take up that torch,” Perlmutter said in a statement.

After much thought and consideration, I have decided not to run for reelection. It’s been a privilege and honor of a lifetime to serve Colorado, the state I love and have always called home. pic.twitter.com/42vwPpN3cQ
