WATCH: Republican Governor Sides With Rep. Omar, Calls for McCarthy to Condemn Boebert

Republican Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson is siding with Rep. Ilhan Omar and calling for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to condemn Rep. Lauren Boebert for a joke she made about the Squad member.

Over the Thanksgiving break, Lauren Boebert said she was recently in a Capitol elevator with Ilhan Omar when a fretful Capitol police officer ran up.

Lauren Boebert said: “Well, she doesn’t have a backpack. We should be fine.”

Appearing on CNN, Hutchinson implied that Boebert is “increasing the divide in our country.”

“I do. I think whenever, even in our own caucus, our own members, if they go the wrong direction, I mean, it has to be called out. It has to be dealt with, particularly whenever it is breaching the civility, whenever it is crossing the line in terms of violence or increasing the divide in our country,” Hutchinson told host Dana Bash on CNN’s State of the Union.

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson says House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy should condemn GOP Rep. Boebert’s anti-Muslim remarks.

“So, one of the things that’s really important to us in the future is increasing the civil debate and civil discourse. And we have got to look for ways that we can bring people together, and not divide, and certainly along racial lines,” Hutchinson added.

Boebert was filmed joking at an event about running into Rep. Omar on an elevator and saying, “I look to my left, and there she is. Ilhan Omar. I said, “Well she doesn’t have a backpack, we should be fine.” She has since apologized, but that does not seem to matter to anyone.

Endangers your life? Give me a break. This is why Boebert never should have apologized. The outrage merchants are full of shit. Nothing they say is sincere or honest and none of their anger should ever be taken seriously. https://t.co/lws7Z7y2U5
